When hiking and climbing in the mountains or diving in the tropics, I am always blown away by the beauty of nature. Climate change and local disturbances resulting from human activities are threatening the biodiversity of our planet - from an ecosystem point of view down to microbes and genes. We are now facing a multitude of challenges as a human family and it is our duty to act for the preservation of our ecosystems. Comprehensive actions at the political level must be undertaken. However, it is also up to us as individuals to be the change we seek. Through our lifestyle changes – we can, together, contribute and build a future that will benefit the ecosystems of our planet and the next generations.
As an aquatic ecologist and environmental engineer, my research seeks to increase our understanding on how climate change and local disturbances impact important trophic interactions and biogeographic patterns in aquatic ecosystems such as coral reefs and glacier-fed streams.
In 2023, I joined the UMR MARBEC at the University of Montpellier as a Marie Curie Research Fellow.
Prior to my current position, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher:
-At the Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL) in the group of Prof. Tom Battin (RIVER) and funded by the NOMIS Foundation (2020-2022).
-At UC Santa Barbara in the groups of Prof. Deron Burkepile and Prof. Rebecca Vega Thurber from Oregon State University (OSU), funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) (2017-2020).
In my free time, I can be found climbing and hiking in the nearest natural parks and diving in the Med Sea or the tropics.
